Rincon Valley has a number of condominium and townhouse developments that are popular with homeowners. One of my favorite’s is a community called Schoolhouse Creek near the Saint Francis Shopping Center.
Schoolhouse Creek is a planned unit development located at the south end of Calistoga Road on the south side of Hwy 12. The three streets that make up the development are Firestone Pl, Firestone Wy, and Firestone Ct. It was built in 1981 around a designated historic site where a one room schoolhouse once stood.
There are 37 single family attached homes all approx. 1500 +/- sq ft. Although there are a few variations, generally there are two floor plans. An open floor plan where the kitchen opens to a great room/dining area, and a second floor plan where the kitchen, dining and living rooms are all separate rooms. All homes are 2 stories with 3 bedrooms located on the 2nd level. The homes are built in a shaker style.
The homes all share the following characteristic:
- 2 car garage
- Patio or balcony
- Washer and dryer hook ups
- 3 bedrooms on upper floor
- Master bedroom with full bath
- Composition roof
Schoolhouse Creek is managed by Focus Real Estate and is governed by CC&Rs and rules and regulations. The homeowner’s association is called Saint Francis Woods HOA. Currently the monthly dues are $270, which pays for painting of the units and maintenance of the common area.
Homes rarely go on the market here, but a survey of the MLS shows the last home that sold was in April 2014, for $339,000. In 2006, before the housing collapse, homes sold in the $400,000’s
Schoolhouse Creek is located in a beautifully landscaped area that borders Santa Rosa Creek. There is a tennis court and large pool available for all homeowners. The Saint Francis Shopping Center is a short walk away. World-class wineries, state, and county parks are all within a few miles.
